This is a new idea I am testing out and you are the first to be a part of it! Lucky you! :-P

This section is going to be for any tips, hacks or insights to help you in your design, music or everyday life!

For today, I am going to share a tip for both design (whether you are a designer or a DIY diva) and music - which could also work even if you are not a singer or music artist. So here goes:

I. Design tip: While one of the hottest trends right now is going all out with animations, textures, maximalism, etc... sometimes less is more, especially if you are a newbie designer or someone who DIY's their site! When designing or customizing your website, avoid overcrowding it with too many elements. A clean, simple design helps your content stand out and keeps your audience focused on what matters most.

II. Music Tip: Warm-up's are everything! But it's not just your vocal muscles that need warming up! As singers, our entire bodies are our instruments, so we need to warm up head to toe so to speak. I like to break my warm-up practice into 3 parts - body, breath and voice. Doing some gentle stretches, side bends, head rolls, etc can help you find where your body is storing unwanted tension (which could affect your voice) and allow you to release it. Next, doing breathing exercises can help to "wake-up" a sluggish breath support system (and also give you more energy in the process!), and finally, warming up the vocal cords - first checking in to see how the voice feels, and then doing the appropriate exercises. Special tip: If you're voice is feeling fatigued or stressed, I suggest doing some gentle semi-occluded exercises (lip or tongue trills, singing through a straw, etc) which helps the vocal cords vibrate with less effort and come together more easily.
